Blue Seed follows Momiji Fujimiya, a seemingly ordinary Japanese middle‑school student living in Izumo. Her routine life is abruptly disrupted when she learns that she is the last living descendant of the legendary Princess Kushinada. According to ancient tradition, Momiji’s unique blood possesses the power needed to confront and defeat the Aragami, a race of monstrous, plant‑like beings that have begun appearing across Japan with the intent of destroying humanity. The lore surrounding her lineage dictates that she must become a human sacrifice in order to either appease or vanquish these creatures. Determined to reject this predetermined fate, Momiji refuses to accept the role of sacrificial offering and instead seeks to find an alternative way to protect people from the Aragami threat. The series centers on her struggle to reconcile her newfound responsibilities with her desire for a normal life, while confronting the escalating danger posed by the invading monsters. Throughout the season, Momiji’s journey explores themes of destiny, sacrifice, and the clash between ancient myth and contemporary existence, as she strives to harness her inherited power without succumbing to the expectations placed upon her.
