Black Saddle was an American Western television series that originally aired on ABC from 1959 to 1960. The show starred Peter Breck in the lead role and consisted of 44 episodes that were broadcast during its single season run. Dick Powell's Four Star Television produced the half-hour program. The series began as a pilot episode that originally appeared on CBS's Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater, where Chris Alcaide first portrayed the main character Clay Culhane. For subsequent syndicated reruns, Black Saddle was packaged together with three other Western series from the same production company. These included Law of the Plainsman featuring Michael Ansara, Johnny Ringo starring Don Durant and Mark Goddard, and another critically acclaimed series. The show represented part of the prolific Western television production of the late 1950s and early 1960s era.
