Overview
BeastMaster is a Canadian television series that aired from 1999 to 2002. The program is loosely based on the 1982 MGM film titled The Beastmaster. The series chronicles the adventures of Dar, who is the last surviving male of the storied Sula tribe. Dar possesses the unique ability to communicate telepathically with the animals of his ancient world. In addition to this gift, he is endowed with the strength, courage, and fighting skills of a great warrior. Throughout the series, Dar utilizes these abilities to defend living creatures that are oppressed by the forces of evil. The show is categorized under the genres of action and adventure, mystery, drama, and science fiction and fantasy. The original 1982 film, which served as the inspiration for the series, was directed by Don Coscarelli and featured actors including Marc Singer, Tanya Roberts, Rip Torn, and John Amos.
