Overview
Anne Shirley is a Japanese anime television series that premiered in 2025. Produced by The Answer Studio and directed by Hiroshi Kawamata, the program is based on the first three novels of the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery, utilizing the 1952 translation by Hanako Muraoka. The story follows Anne Shirley, an imaginative eleven-year-old orphan who is mistakenly sent to live at Green Gables with elderly siblings Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert. Although the siblings originally intended to adopt a boy to assist with their fields, the redheaded girl remains with them. Her abundant imagination, cheer, and earnest heart begin to change the people around her. The series was scheduled to premiere on NHK Educational TV on April 5, 2025.
