Overview
Adventures of Superman is an American television series that brought the iconic DC Comics superhero to the small screen for the first time. The show follows the adventures of Superman, who protects Earth while maintaining his secret identity as mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent. Working alongside colleagues Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen at the Daily Planet under editor Perry White, Superman fights threats to truth, justice, and the American way. Produced by National Periodical Publications and distributed by RKO-Warner, the series began filming in 1951 and aired from 1952 to 1958. It was originally produced for syndication and later picked up by ABC for network television. The series was notable for being the first live-action television show to feature the Man of Steel and helped establish many of the conventions associated with Superman's character and supporting cast that persist in later adaptations. The production utilized soundstages and back lots in California during its run.
