A Is for Acid is a 2002 British television film based on the life of the serial killer John Haigh. He was known as the acid bath murderer because he dissolved the bodies of victims in sulphuric acid during the 1940s. The film is a dramatisation of the true story of his crimes, depicting how he murdered women and disposed of their bodies in vats of acid. He was ultimately caught only when the gallstones of one of his victims failed to dissolve in the acid and were detected by the pathologist who examined the residue from the acid bath.
