Biography

Yootha Joyce was a British actress born in 1927 to musical parents. She was trained at RADA and came to prominence via the Joan Littlewood Theatre Workshop. Joyce secured roles in TV shows such as The Avengers and Steptoe and Son, and films like The Pumpkin Eater and A Man For All Seasons. She was best known for her role as Mildred Roper in the sitcom Man About the House and its spin-off George and Mildred. Joyce was married to fellow actor Glynn Edwards from 1956 to 1968 and died in 1980 from liver failure.
