She was born in Khartsyzsk, Donetsk Oblast, in the former Ukrainian SSR and later moved to the United Kingdom, where she attended Brighton College. Filatova is known for playing Elena in Channel 4’s cult series Peep Show, Eva in the film Lesbian Vampire Killers, and Svetlana in the five‑part BBC 1 drama The Deep opposite Minnie Driver, James Nesbitt and Goran Višnjić.
