Anthony Robert Kushner is an American author, playwright, and screenwriter born on July 16, 1956, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. Known for his writing, he has earned thirty-eight known credits. He is widely recognized for his work on stage, most notably for Angels in America, which includes Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Angels in America: Perestroika. His Broadway debut occurred in 1993 with both parts of the production. For this seminal work, he received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, and he later adapted it into a 2003 miniseries directed by Mike Nichols. At the turn of the 21st century, he became known for his film collaborations with Steven Spielberg. In 2013, he received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
