Tawfiq Ameen Muhammad Ahmad al-Sheikh Al Deqen, also known as Tawfik El Deken Tew, was born in Egypt on May 3, 1924, and died on November 26, 1988, at the age of sixty-four. He graduated from the High Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1950. His acting career began while he was still a student, playing the role of a peasant and later participating in the 1951 production of Dhohoor al-Islaam, translated as The appearance of Islam. Seven years after his graduation, he joined the Free Theatre Troupe and subsequently worked with Esmaeel Yasseen in his troupe. He then joined the National Theatre, remaining a member for the rest of his life, where he presented works including Aaelat al-Doghry, Bedaaya wa nehaaya, and Se.
