Tatyana Marisol Ali is an American actress and singer born on January 24, 1979, in Long Island, New York. She is best known for her role as Ashley Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which she played from 1990 to 1996. At the age of four she began singing, and at age six she began her acting career in 1985 as a regular performer on the PBS children's educational program Sesame Street. Her theatrical work in New York includes the Broadway show Fences alongside James Earl Jones and Billy Dee Williams, as well as the off-Broadway show Orfeo del Campo. She also appeared on Star Search at the age of seven.
