She gained international recognition for her performance in Ang Lee’s Golden Lion‑winning film Lust, Caution (2007), after which the Chinese government banned her due to the explicit sexual content of the role. She returned to the screen with Crossing Hennessy in 2010 and subsequently appeared in Late Autumn (2010), Finding Mr. Right (2013), The Golden Era (2014), Long Day’s Journey into Night (2018), Decision to Leave (2022) and Wonderland (2024).
