Stefania Casini is an Italian actress, screenwriter, director, and producer born on September 4, 1948, in Villa di Chiavenna, Italy. After graduating in architecture, she began an acting career, working with directors such as Pietro Germi, Bernardo Bertolucci, Peter Greenaway, and Dario Argento. Her acting credits include roles in 1900, Suspiria, The Belly of an Architect, and Andy Warhol's Bad. Moving to New York in the late 1970s, she transitioned to behind the camera to become a director. Alongside Francesca Marciano, she wrote and directed the film Lontano da dove, which was presented at the Venice Film Festival in 1983. In 1997, she wrote and directed the feature film Un Paradiso di Bugie. Her directorial career also encompasses six feature films for the Italian television network MEDIASET, as well as a great number of documentaries.
