Simon Langton is a television director and producer born on 5 November 1941 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. He is the son of David Langton, an actor. Langton directed a number of TV drama series and serials during the 1970s. His 1982 dramatisation of the John le Carré novel Smiley's People was nominated for a BAFTA award and an Emmy Award. He won a BAFTA award for the 1989 series Mother Love, starring Diana Rigg. Langton is perhaps best known for directing the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle in 1995. He has directed 59 projects and is known for his work in directing.
