Shobu Kapoor is a British actress of Indian descent born on May 28, 1961, in London, England, United Kingdom. She is most notable for playing the role of Gita Kapoor, the long-suffering wife of market trader Sanjay, who was played by Deepak Verma, in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1993 to 1998. After leaving EastEnders, Kapoor appeared in the 2002 film Bend It Like Beckham and the television series The Bill in 2004. Her additional credits include Chicken Tikka Masala in 2005 and Casualty in 2005. She also appeared in the television series Doctors as five different characters between the years 2000 and 2016.
