Shirley Anne Field, born Shirley Broomfield, was an English actress who performed on stage, film, and television starting in 1955. She became prominent during the British New Wave. After completing a course at the Lucie Clayton School and Model Agency, she worked as a photographic model for pin-up magazines including Reveille and Titbits. She was subsequently spotted by Bill Watts, who ran a theatrical agency and secured her roles in late 1950s British films, which were usually uncredited. Her first film appearance was as an extra in Simon and Laura in 1955. She also secured small parts in All for Mary in 1955, Lost in 1956, Yield to the Night directed by J. Lee Thompson in 1956, and It's Never Too Late.
