Santiago Segura was born in Madrid on July 17, 1965. He started his career by making his first short movie at the age of fourteen. After studying Arts in Madrid, he decided to become a filmmaker. His first short film was Relatos de la medianoche in 1989. He later appeared as a contestant in Spanish television quiz shows including Locos por la tele and No te rías, que es peor in 1990. Using the money earned from these television appearances, he directed Evilio in 1992 and Perturbado in 1993, winning a Goya for best short film in 1994. His subsequent short film was the sequel Evilio vuelve in 1994. Active in the film industry, Segura is recognized with 172 known acting credits in the database.
