Sam Rockwell, born November 5, 1968, is an American actor known for his distinctive and charismatic performances in independent films and television. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Jason Dixon in Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. A subsequent Oscar nomination followed for his portrayal of George W. Bush in Adam McKay’s Vice. Rockwell received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for playing Bob Fosse in the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon and earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Broadway revival of David Mamet’s American Buffalo.
