Early in his stage career, he was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performance for his work in Outlying Islands at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs. His additional theatre credits include Plague Over England at the Duchess West End, MacBeth at Nottingham and the Edinburgh Lyceum, Romeo And Juliet at Dundee Rep, and Hamlet at Citizens Glasgow.
