Robert Flemyng OBE, MC was a British film and stage actor born in Liverpool on January 3, 1912. The son of a doctor and educated at Haileybury, he initially trained as a medical student before abandoning medicine to pursue acting. He made his stage debut in the early 1930s and subsequently worked steadily in both London and Broadway productions. His first film appearance occurred in 1937, though he did not appear steadily in films until after his service in World War II. During the war, he was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps and served with distinction, achieving the rank of full colonel at the age of 33. His wartime service earned him the Military Cross in 1941, along with being mentioned in despatches. He passed away on May 22, 1995, at the age of 83.

Following the war, Flemyng built a substantial screen career encompassing both film and television. His filmography includes appearances in Public Eye, Playhouse 90, and Edward the Seventh. In television, his broadcasting work during the 1960s notably included two television series, most prominently the series Compact, in which he appeared in more than 100 episodes. Throughout a career spanning multiple decades across stage, film, and television, Flemyng amassed 68 known acting credits on the Movie Database before his death in 1995.
