Biography

Richard Basehart was an American actor born on August 31, 1914. He is known for his roles in various films, including the Italian film La strada, where he played the acrobat known as "the Fool". He also appeared in the film noir classic He Walked by Night and as Ishmael in Moby Dick. Additionally, he starred in the drama Decision Before Dawn and as a member of the Hatfield clan in the film Roseanna McCoy. Basehart was married to Italian actress Valentina Cortese, with whom he had one son. He passed away on September 17, 1984.
