Renée Elise Goldsberry is an American actress, singer, and songwriter born on January 2, 1971. She is widely recognized for originating the role of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway musical Hamilton, a performance that earned her the 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Her extensive Broadway credits also include portraying Nettie Harris in The Color Purple, Mimi Márquez in Rent, and Nala in The Lion King. On television, Goldsberry has held various roles, such as Geneva Pine on The Good Wife and Evangeline Williamson on One Life to Live. Her work on the latter series resulted in two nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
