Peter Lai Bei‑Dak (Chinese: 黎彼得) was a Hong Kong male lyricist, screenwriter, film producer and actor born on 13 May 1950 in Hong Kong, then a British Crown Colony. He died on 5 August 2026 at the age of 76. In the 1970s and 1980s he co‑wrote many of the first Cantopop songs with Sam Hui and contributed songs for Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung and Alan Tam, placing him among the pioneer generation of Cantopop lyricists alongside Jim Wong, Jimmy Lo and Cheng Kwok Kong. Lai also worked as a screenwriter and film producer for Golden Harvest and TVB, and began acting in movies and television series from the 1980s, accumulating 121 credited acting roles.
