Paul Harvey was an American actor born on September 10, 1882, who died on December 15, 1955. He appeared in at least 177 films and is not to be confused with the broadcaster of the same name. Primarily a character actor, he began his career on stage and in silent films. He appeared in both the Broadway and original film versions of The Awful Truth. In Hollywood, he took on supporting roles, frequently portraying dignified executives or authority figures. His film credits include playing a vacationing businessman whose car is commandeered by fugitive killer Humphrey Bogart in the 1935 crime drama The Petrified Forest, and a minister who marries Spencer Tracy's daughter, played by Elizabeth Taylor, in the 1950 comedy Father of the Bride.
