Oliver Norvell Hardy, born Norvell Hardy, was an American comic actor born on January 18, 1892, in Harlem, Georgia, USA. He was one half of the famous double act Laurel and Hardy alongside his comedy partner Stan Laurel. Their partnership began in the era of silent films and lasted from 1927 to 1951. Together, they appeared in 107 short films, feature films, and cameo roles. Hardy received credit for his first film, Outwitting Dad, in 1914, and was billed as Babe Hardy in some of his early works. He was known for acting with 299 known credits and also went by the name Oliver Norvell. Oliver Hardy died from cerebral thrombosis on August 7, 1957, at the age of 65. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located at 1500 Vine Street, Hollywood, California.
