Biography
Olin Ross Howland was an American film and theatre actor born on February 10, 1886, in Denver, Colorado. His parents were Mary C. Bunting and Joby A. Howland, who was one of the youngest enlisted participants in the Civil War. His older sister was the stage actress Jobyna Howland. From 1909 to 1927, Howland performed on Broadway in musicals and occasionally appeared in silent films. His Broadway credits include the musicals Leave It to Jane in 1917, Two Little Girls in Blue in 1921, and Wildflower in 1923. He also appeared in the 1924 film Janice Meredith alongside Marion Davies. When sound films arrived, his theatre background proved to be an asset. He passed away on September 20, 1959.

With the arrival of sound films, Howland found that his theatre background proved to be an asset. He subsequently concentrated more of his efforts in this direction, continuing his career in the entertainment industry until his death on September 20, 1959.
