Oleg Evgenyevich Menshikov is a Soviet and Russian entertainer, born on November 8, 1960, in Moscow, USSR, which is now Russia. He is known for his work as a film and theatre actor, singer, and director, and serves as the current artistic director of the Yermolova Theatre in Moscow. Menshikov began his film career in the early 1980s with roles in the comedy Pokrovskie vorota and Nikita Mikhalkov's film Rodnya. In 1993, he collaborated again with Mikhalkov in the film Burnt by the Sun, playing an NKVD agent during Stalin's Great Purge. This performance brought him to international attention. The film won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
