Miklós Károly Mickey Hargitay was a Hungarian-American bodybuilder and actor born in Budapest on January 6, 1926. He immigrated to the United States in 1947 at the age of 21 and eventually became a naturalized citizen. Hargitay gained prominence as a competitive bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Universe title in 1955. This success facilitated his transition into a film career. He was married to actress Jayne Mansfield, with whom he appeared in four films: Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?, The Loves of Hercules, Promises! Promises!, and Primitive Love.
