Biography
Melvin “Mel” Damski, born July 21, 1946 in Manhattan, New York City, is an American film and television director and producer. He is of Northern European Jewish heritage, one of four children of German refugee parents, and was raised in Roslyn on Long Island. Damski earned a football scholarship to Colgate University, worked as a reporter for Long Island Newsday, and relocated to Los Angeles in 1972 to study at the AFI Conservatory. His directing career includes 29 feature films and numerous television episodes, and he served as the producing‑director of the series Psych. Damski has also taught film and television courses at New York University and the University of Southern California.
