Maya Sansa (born 25 September 1975) is an Italian actress. She was born in Rome to an Iranian father and an Italian mother. At age fourteen she began studying acting at the Virgilio high school in Rome, then continued her training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she graduated in acting. Shortly after, director Marco Bellocchio cast her in his film La balia, and she later appeared again for him in Goodmorning, Night. She also worked with Marco Tullio Giordana on the film The Best of Youth. On 2 May 2004 The New York Times described her as the new image of Italian cinema.
