Biography
Marguerite Chapman was an American actress born on March 9, 1918, in Chatham, New York. Before entering the entertainment industry, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator in White Plains, New York. Her physical appearance led to a modeling career with the John Robert Powers Agency in New York City. This publicity resulted in an offer from 20th Century Fox in Hollywood. Chapman made her film debut in 1940 and spent her first two years in the industry performing in small roles. In 1942, she achieved a significant career milestone when Republic Pictures cast her in the leading female role for a twelve-part adventure film serial titled Spy. Chapman died on August 31, 1999.
