Malik Zidi is a French actor born on February 14, 1975, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, France. He was born to a Kabyle Algerian father and a Breton mother and spent his formative years in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, a suburb of Paris. Zidi abandoned his conventional studies early to concentrate on a career in comedy. He followed courses at the Theatre Veronique Nordey and the Theatre de Proposition in Paris, and briefly studied acrobatics and mime at the Theatre de la Piscine and cinema at the Studio Pygmalion. Zidi made his first film appearance in the 1998 Sebastian Lifshitz-directed Les Corps ouverts. In 2000, he appeared in the Francois Ozon-directed Water Drops on Burning Rocks as Franz, and later followed up with roles in the 2002 Antoine Santana-directed A Moment of Happiness opposite Isild Le Besco.

Zidi followed up these early appearances with roles in the 2002 Antoine Santana-directed film A Moment of Happiness opposite Isild Le Besco, which earned him a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actor. In 2004, he appeared in a film directed by Andre Techine. Throughout his career, he has accumulated numerous acting credits in films and television series, including appearances in Thibault, Les, Play, and The Mysteries of Lisbon.
