Liu Xiaoqing is a Chinese actress born on October 30, 1952, in Chongqing, Sichuan, China. She began her career as a farm labourer, then worked as a propagandist for the People's Liberation Army and a stage actor for the Chengdu Military Drama Group. Liu acted in mainland Chinese films, including The Great Wall of the South China Sea, What a Family, and The Little Flower. Her breakthrough role was the portrayal of Empress Dowager Cixi in The Burning of the Imperial Palace and Reign Behind the Curtain. Liu has worked on numerous projects, with over 75 known credits.
