Laura Elizabeth Innes is an American actress and television director born on August 16, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan. She starred as Dr. Kerry Weaver in the NBC medical drama ER from 1995 to 2007, and later reprised her role during the final season from 2008 to 2009. Her performance on the series earned her three Primetime Emmy nominations. She also starred as Sophia in the short-lived NBC thriller The Event from 2010 to 2011. Introduced to professional theater by her father through visits to the Stratford Festival of Canada in Stratford, Ontario, she attended Northwestern University with her father's support and earned a degree in theater before pursuing her career in film and television.
