Krystyna Jolanta Janda is a Polish film and theatre actress, director, and singer. She was born on December 18, 1952, in Starachowice, Poland. Internationally, she is best known for playing leading roles in several films by Polish film director Andrzej Wajda, including Man of Marble in 1976 and Man of Iron in 1981. She is considered an icon of Polish cinema and one of the most popular and successful Polish actresses of her generation. Throughout her career, she has accumulated 80 known acting credits in movies and television shows. In 1981, she appeared in the movie Mephisto. In 1982, she played the lead character in Ryszard Bugajski's film Interrogation, which premiered seven years later in 1989.
