Kimberly Elise Trammel is an American actress born on April 17, 1967. She studied film and acting at the University of Minnesota, earning a BA in Mass Communications. Elise made her feature film debut in Set It Off and received critical acclaim for her performance in Beloved. Her film credits include John Q, The Manchurian Candidate, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Great Debaters, For Colored Girls, Dope, Almost Christmas, Death Wish, and Ad Astra. She received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead for her performance in the 2004 drama Woman Thou Art Loosed.
