Daphne Katherine Reid, known as Kate Reid, was an English-born Canadian stage, film, and television actress. Born in London, England, on November 4, 1930, she was raised in Ontario and performed with the Stratford Festival before making her Broadway debut as Martha in the matinee cast of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Over her career, she played more than one thousand roles. Her notable work included stage performances in Death of a Salesman, appearances in the 1980 film Atlantic City, and roles in episodes of the television show Dallas. She was described as generally regarded as the finest actress ever developed in Canada. She passed away on March 27, 1993, at the age of 62.
