Kao Pao-Shu was an actress, producer, writer, and film director. Originally from Suzhou, China, she moved to Hong Kong in 1951, where she initially took minor acting roles before joining Shaw Brothers Studio in 1958. During her career, she appeared in over 100 films, starring in more than 80 films at Shaw Brothers where she worked with directors Yueh Feng and Cheng Kang. She made her directorial debut in 1970 with the film Lady with a Sword. Later, she started her own company and produced films throughout the 1970s before retiring in the 1980s.
