Ho Fan, also known as Hoh and credited in Chinese as 何藩, was a male Chinese director and photographer. He was born in Shanghai on 8 October and was a native of Guangdong. At the age of eighteen he moved to Hong Kong, where he attended the Evening School of Higher Chinese Studies and New Asia College. From his school days he devoted himself to literature and photography, gaining recognition for his dramatic use of light, shadow and composition that captured the lives of ordinary people in Hong Kong and earning numerous international awards. Ho Fan accumulated forty‑four directing credits and died in California on 19 June 2016.
