Mahoney's notable credits include the Broadway revival of John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves, for which he earned a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He also appeared in films such as Suspect, Moonstruck, Tin Men, and Frantic. Mahoney played a retired police officer in the NBC sitcom Frasier from 1993 to 2004.
