He is a former American football quarterback who played college football for the University of Alabama under coach Paul Bear Bryant and assistant Howard Schnellenberger from 1962 to 1964. Namath was a prominent American Football League icon and played for the New York Jets for most of his professional career, which included winning Super Bowl III and earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
