Jeffrey Thomas is a Welsh-born New Zealand actor and writer born on June 11, 1945, in Llanelli, South Wales. Born into a fluent Welsh-speaking family, his early interest in acting was awakened by his grandmother. Thomas trained as a quantity surveyor before attending Liverpool University, where he earned a BA in English Literature and in Celtic Studies and English Literature. He later obtained a Masters degree in Literature from Oxford University. While at university, he wrote and acted in revues. Thomas is known for his work in film, television, and stage, including roles in Outrageous Fortune, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Spartakus: Bohové arény. He married a New Zealander while studying at Oxford.
