He is widely recognized for serving as the creative director on the reality television show America's Next Top Model for the first eighteen seasons, beginning in 2003. In addition to his work on that program, he was featured as the host of Canada's Next Top Model, which began in 2006, and was credited for work on Live from E! Manuel is also the founder and chief executive officer of the beauty line Jay Manuel Beauty, which opened its first retail location at Roosevelt Field Mall in 2017. Later that same year, he served as a judge for Miss Universe 2017 and subsequently released his first book titled The Wig, The Bitch & The Meltdown in 2020.
