Jason Statham is an English actor, producer, and martial artist born on July 26, 1967, in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England. The son of a dancer and a street merchant, Statham was a member of the British national diving team and competed for England in the 1990 Commonwealth Games. He also finished twelfth in the 1992 World Championships. Before his career in film, he worked at local market stalls and practiced kickboxing, karate, and Chinese martial arts. Known for his tough, gritty, and violent screen persona, Statham has established himself as a prominent figure in the action thriller genre. By 2017, his filmography had grossed over 1.1 billion pounds, solidifying his status as a bankable star in the industry.
