James Wan is an Australian filmmaker born on February 26, 1977, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. He primarily works in the horror genre and is the co-creator of the Saw and Insidious franchises, as well as the creator of The Conjuring Universe, which is the highest-grossing horror franchise at over $2 billion. Wan is also the founder of the film and television production company Atomic Monster. He made his feature directorial debut in 2004 with a film in the Saw franchise, which became commercially successful and grossed over $1 billion globally.
