Biography
James Geoffrey Ian Norton is an English film, television, and stage actor born on July 18, 1985. Raised in North Yorkshire, he began acting at a young age. He attended Ampleforth College, where he was taught by Benedictine monks. Norton is recognized for his roles in the television series Happy Valley, Grantchester, War and Peace, and McMafia. For his performance as Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley, he received a nomination for the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2015. Additionally, he played the title role in the 2019 film Mr. Jones and portrayed King Harold Godwinson in a 2025 BBC historical production. Norton lives with type 1 diabetes.
