Jacques Doniol-Valcroze was a French actor, director, screenwriter, and critic who was born in Paris on March 15, 1920, and died in Cannes on October 6, 1989. In addition to his acting and filmmaking work, he was a prolific film reviewer and a co-founder of both the cine-club Objective 49 and the journal Cahiers du cinema. Recognized as a film philosopher of love with a penchant for libertinism, his credits include the film L homme au cerveau greffé. Later in his career, in 1964, he served as a member of the jury at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival.
