Hurd Hatfield was an American actor born in New York City on December 7, 1917. He was the son of William Henry Hatfield, an attorney who served as deputy attorney general for New York, and his wife Adele. Hatfield was educated at Columbia University and later studied drama in London, England. He began acting in theatre and made his film debut in Dragon Seed, a film in which he and his co-stars portrayed Chinese peasants. Hatfield is known for often playing characters of handsome, narcissistic young men, most notably in the film The Picture of Dorian Gray. He passed away on December 26, 1998, at the age of 81.
