Hiroyuki Sanada is a Japanese actor born Hiroyuki Shimosawa on October 12, 1960, in Shinagawa, Tokyo. He is a professional actor with 128 known credits. Throughout his career, he has transitioned from a martial arts background to establishing himself as a versatile dramatic performer. Sanada has received numerous accolades for his work, including a Golden Globe Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, a British Academy Television Award, a Japan Academy Film Prize, and multiple honors from the Hochi Film Awards, Mainichi Film Awards, Blue Ribbon Awards, and Kinema Junpo Awards.
