Hind Rostom, also known as Hend Rostom, was an Egyptian actress and an icon in Egyptian cinema. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, on November 11, 1929, she had 82 known credits in acting. She started her career at the age of 16 with the film Azhaar wa Ashwak, also known as Flowers and Thorns. Her career breakthrough came in 1955 when director Hassan Al Imam offered her a role in Banat el Lail, or Women of the Night. Among her known films are Ibn Hamido, Youssef Chahine's Cairo Station with Farid Shawqi, Salah Abu Seif's Sleepless with Faten Hamama, Omar Sharif, and Rushdy Abaza, and Struggle in the Nile with Omar Sharif and Rushdy Abaza. She passed away on November 8, 2011, at the age of 81.
